United Teachers of Florida (UTF) proudly endorses the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Referendum Renewal of the Existing Ad Valorem Levy for Teachers, Instructional Personnel, Student Safety and Security on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The referendum would renew the existing one-mill property tax for four years, from July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2031\. The funding will continue to support improved compensation for teachers and instructional personnel, helping Miami-Dade recruit and retain high-quality educators in a community with a high cost of living. It will also provide critical resources to strengthen student safety and school security throughout the district. The referendum includes public charter schools, which will continue to receive their proportional share of the funding based on student enrollment. The resolution estimates the levy could generate approximately $585 million annually, while continuing the investments currently supported by voter-approved referendum dollars. UTF supports renewing this referendum because competitive teacher compensation and safe, secure schools are essential investments in educators, students, and the future of Miami-Dade County.
