United Teachers of Florida (UTF) proudly endorses the Broward County Public Schools One-Mill Property Tax Referendum on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The referendum would continue a one-mill ad valorem property tax for four years, from January 1, 2027 through December 31, 2030, to support critical operating needs across Broward County schools. Funding will be used to increase compensation and recruit and retain highly qualified teachers, school-based employees, and support staff. It will also strengthen school safety and security staffing and mental health services for students and schools. The referendum provides additional resources for essential instructional expenses and programs designed to improve student achievement. Importantly, the funding will benefit both traditional public schools and charter schools throughout Broward County. UTF supports this referendum because investing in competitive educator compensation, safe schools, mental health resources, and strong academic programs is essential to retaining quality educators and providing students with the support they need to succeed.
